Exploring cupcakes in Sydney #Part3

Babycakes by Renee

One day, my husband told me he found a cupcake shop called ' babycakes '
He was on the way home from work and he found the company car with a logo 'Babycakes.'
He knows I love to find a cupcake shop and try out cupcakes.(It is a researching or learning process for me.)
There are three shops so I chose one in 55 Norton St. Leichhardt.

(I bought strawberry cream, cherry bomb, strawberry mud and peanut chocolate..)

The shop was located in shopping plaza and it was right in the middle of the aisle so very easy to find.

Yes, they sell baby cupcakes. It is for one bite.
The good thing is you can try many flavours if you want because they are tiny .
(no need to feel guilty after eating 4 cupcakes)

They have many flavours to choose.
I wanted to mention about all the flavours but I didn't have time to take all the details.
(My baby was crying for the Wiggles' toy car;;;)

I loved this strawberry mud cupcakes. Like I said, I was in hurry
so I couldn't take a picture of  the inside of it. Sorry about that =D
The cake was pink colour and very sweet.
I guess it was strawberry mud cake with white chocolate ganache with pink food colour.
Most of cakes were a bit dense. However, you feel satisfied because the cake itself is tiny so you barely notice. It is too small to judge how good .. It is hard to be specific about the all the flavours.
All I can say are.. 'It is dense but yummy. It is sweet enough..not bland'

If the texture was too light and fluffy, I wouldn't be happy about it because I might feel like eating nothing.
By the way, they also sell cakes and giant cupcakes too.(above)

 Cherry bomb baby cake
I like this one. Chocolate mud cake with chocolate ganache + half glazed cherry. I loved the cake itself.
Chocolate mud... who wouldn't??=D
I was expecting some cherry jam inside... or cherry chocolate cake but I loved it.

Peanut..something cake.
I guess it was Chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting.
It didn't give me strong impression so .. Pass.

If you visit the 'Babycakes' , try 'cherry bomb' & ' strawberry mud.'
If you find out more yummy ones, please share some yummy information=d

Have a delicious day!!

Exploring Cupcakes in Sydney #Part2

Exploring cupcakes in Sydney Part2

1. Cupcakes on Pitt

Like everyone knows.. 'Cupcakes on Pitt' has got many shops around Sydney.
I saw some other people's reviews about the shop and it was a bit negative.
For example, cakes seem from cake mix, not from scratch.
I haven't tried the cake mix so I can't tell you about "cake mix'
I am not quite sure about using cake mix.. because I don't know what's in it..

I orderd 'cookie & cream, cherry ripe, vanilla sundae, tiamisu, chocolate brownie, honey comb.'

My first impression on Cupcakes on Pitt was 'Poor Service.'
The staff at the shop was not loaded with the information about each cupcake.
I bought 6 cupcakes and I asked her what is inside.
(because all the cupcakes looked so simple..as in .. when I see cookie & cream cupcakes, I expects cookie cream cupcakes with cookie & cream frosting. However, they looked like just chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting and an Oreo cookie on the top.. so I was curious...and asked her " What's inside of cookie & cream?" She said while laughing " cookie."
Omg. I asked her more questions..the answers were ridiculous.lol

Me: (pointing at 'cherry ripe' cupcakes) "What's inside?"
(It looked just simple chocolate cakes with pink frosting.. didn't look like any cherries in it.)
staff: "Cherry. It is Cherry Ripe."

Lol. I was not sure if she was being sarcastic or she didn't know how to explain about cupcakes..

To be honest, all cakes were light & fluffy.. The vanilla was too fluffy so it left a lot of crumbs.
My husband and I liked the texture of cakes.

For the frosting..It was a big let down. um.. I think they use "Shortening" which I don't prefer to eat..
The shortening makes the frosting very smooth and easy to work with.
It is not vunerable with temperature as well.
Once you try it, you will notice the difference. My stomach reacted on it straight away.
The frosting was 'No' for me.

Here is the next cupcake shop.

2. Cupcakebakery

I ordered " tiramisu(again), vanilla vanilla, hummingbird, choc-choc"

It was more expensive than the cupcakes on pitt but it was worth it.
Tiramisu was totally different from the first one.
(vanilla cupcakes with a little bit of coffe syrup inside and the coffee frosting with coco powder)

All cupcakes were fresh.
It was more like Home made version of cupcakes.
Cakes were soft and the frosting was similar to my one but much sweeter.
I bet there is no shortening in it.

In one day, I had too many cupcakes..hahaha
It was great to spend time with my family..After trying all the cupcakes, I am full of new insparation.
Can't wait to start baking!!

Exploring Cupcakes in Sydney #Part1

I've been traveling around Sydney for cupcake shop in Sydney.
So.. my weekends are very busy but it is worth it. Me and my husband visited the cupcake stall in Rocks market last Saturday. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo of the cupcake stall. I bought 5 mini cupcakes; strawberry, lemon, cinnamon latte, berry choc, mint chocolate. Except for chocolate based cupcakes, strawberry, lemon and cinnamon latte cupcakes were so dry.. I couldn't find any flavour of strawberry in my stawberry cupcake. Um..... Despite of fact that cupcakes were not impressive, the shop looked busy and people walking next to the shop seemed not to be able to just pass it.

Anyway, I went to the Sparkle cupcakery located in Surry hill.
I like the interior design of the shop. Simple. Just the way I like.
I've seen so many cupcake shops with the pretty pink colour theme..
Princess style's shops..
but sometimes men might feel not comfortable to walk in the princess's shop like.
hahahaha.. my husband is quite sensitive about it.

Cupcakes!! Well.. if you are a serious cupcake lover, you will notice that this design of cupcakes is exactly SAME as the 'Sprinkles' cupcake shop in U.S.A.
Similar names : Sparkles / Sprinkles
Similar design : Simple frosting with a dot which shows you a flavour of a cupcake.
It was like a serious replica! No offence.. but as a fan of the Sprinkles.. I was shocked when I saw the cupcakes in 'Sparkles.'

I love the interior!!

We ordered the green tea bubble cupcake(above) and white choc strawberry cupcake.

I opened my greentea bubble cupcake and I found the BUBBLES.. hahaha
It was tapioca pearls..
The cake was a bit dry.
I was hoping the frosting had the green tea flavour, too.
It could've been nicer.

My fussy husband didn't like his white chocolate strawberry cupcake.
He said it was not moist at all and lack of the strawberry flavour.

I should've tried more cupcakes so I could figure out their strong points. Um.. I can say, the image of the Sparkles cupcakery(similar to my blog's name -_-) is luxurious and sophisticated.

It is always good to spend my precious weekends with cupcakes ...and with my lovely husband, too.
Have a great day with a delicious cupcakeswith coffee!!! I will post Cupcakeshop trip #Part Two next time.
